Cinemalaya 2019 Audience Choice Winner is a nominee at the 2020 Santorini Film Festival

Cinemalaya 2019 audience choice awardee for full length feature "Belle Douleur" is nominated in the 2020 Santorini Film Festival.

The Mylene Dizon starrer is competing against four other films in the Best Drama Category.

Cinemalaya's official accounts shared the awesome news on social media Sunday afternoon.

On her Instagram account, director Joji Alonso thanked the "Santorini Film Festival for Belle Douleur’s nomination in the Best Drama category."

"Wish we can all go!" She added, tagging the film's headliners Mylene and Kit Thompson as well as Quantum Films, Cinemalaya, and I Want TV, where it is streaming.

"Belle Douleur" tells the story of Liz, whose mother has just passed away. Liz decides to sell her mother's antiques, and who comes to buy them? A young handsome fellow named Josh (Kit Thompson). The two embark in a rendezvous that involve visiting art galleries, taking shots, and going on motorcycle rides in the wee hours of the evening.

The Santorini Film Festival celebrates remarkable independent cinema. It is "the first international independent film festival on the island is open to any indie filmmaker, regardless of budget, style or genre, who is looking for a platform to share their work with an audience eager to see great films," it says on its website.

Congratulations on the nominee "Belle Douleur!" — LA, GMA News
