Pia Wurtzbach hits back at bashers who say she's undeserving of 'Woman of the Year' award

Pia Wurtzbach defended herself from bashers saying she doesn't serve the "Woman of the Year" recognition given by Dubai-based magazine Xpedition.

On Instagram, the Miss Universe 2015 shared photos from the event, where she's seen wearing a glamorous Furne Amato gown.

She thanked the magazine and said "15 awards were given out tonight and I'm so grateful to receive one of them. Thank you for recognizing my efforts."

Noticing a few bashers questioning why she was chosen, Pia edited her caption to include her observation. "I usually don't like answering them but I have to admit, nahu-hurt ako pag sinasabing 'wala ka namang ginawa.' So let me explain," Pia began, before taking on the comments section of her post.

In a four-part comment, Pia said she felt the need to finally speak up.

"Ang saya-saya ko everytime I give back in my own little way. And it hurts me when people say na wala naman akong ginawa or ginagawa," she added.

Pia said despite her being vocal with her advocacies, people only notice her glamorous photos or those with her boyfriend, Jeremy Jauncey.

"This year has been tough for me too," she said. "I've been trying to keep my head up and balance work and businesses, my personal life and even family issues."

"I've been through some really dark times this year (even Jeremy has seen it) but somehow I've been able to fight through it and I haven't forgotten about the people who believe in me. So to my bashers who work so hard to bring me down, okay lang sa kin kung ayaw niyo sa kin, or iba kasi ang bet nyo," she continued.

Pia emphasized that while it's already been five years since she won Miss Universe, "there are people and organizations who still believe and trust in me and that's all that matters. Ok na ok na ko dun."

But perhaps for good measure, Pia listed down all the things she has been doing to help out her advocacies.

After the success of her first fundraiser gave her enough confidence to do more, Pia said that she immediately donated the gowns she wore during the Miss Universe Pageant when Vestido and Aquafina asked her. "Gowns and shoes were auctioned off all for charity," Pia said.

And then she was asked by the World Wide Foundation to join the team which Pia said she was only too happy to be a part of to "learn more, and also because Jeremy who is a global Ambassador for WWF, has been teaching me so much about it," she added.

While Pia hasn't gone on any ground work yet due to safety reasons, she proudly shared that she's helped with the organization's fundraisers, closing three campaigns, each amounting to up to P400,000.

There were the watches she auctioned off the fundraisers of other celebrities, as well as the free talk she does "with UNAIDS every 3 months," she added.

And so much more, Pia said.

There's the ton Pia has done and for her to list everything down, it seems she's really had it with the bashers.

Keep your head up Queen Pia. And thank you for all that you do. — Jannielyn Ann Bigtas/LA, GMA News
