Filipino satire ‘Excuse Me, Miss, Miss, Miss’ makes it to 2021 Sundance Film Festival lineup
“Excuse Me, Miss, Miss, Miss,” a social satire about the plight of contractual workers in the Philippines, is going to Sundance.
According to the Sundance Film Festival’s official 2021 lineup announced last December 15, the Pinoy film directed by Sonny Calvento is among titles included in the International Fiction category.
It was among two Asian films in the roster, the other being“The Unseen River” from Vietnam and Laos.
Calvento took to Instagram to share the news, saying it was a “dream come true.”
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 Sundance Film Fest is happening virtually from Jan. 28 to Feb. 3, 2021.
As the synopsis on the Sundance website says, the “Excuse Me, Miss, Miss, Miss” centers on Vangie, “a miserable contractual sales lady, is about to lose her job.”
“But in her desperate attempt to convince her boss not to sack her, Vangie uncovers the ultimate jaw-dropping secret to regularization.”
The cast includes Angelina Kanapi, Bob Jbeili, and Phyllis Grande.
