Pinay singer and actress Frencheska Farr wins Outstanding Dramatic Actress at Micheaux Film Festival

Frencheska Farr was named Outstanding Dramatic Actress at the The Micheaux Film Festival for her performance in the short film “Harana.”

The Filipino singer and actress just shared a photo of her award on Instagram, dedicating her win to “the Filipino people and everyone fighting the good fight.”

Frencheska also said a big thank you to the team behind “Harana,” and all her friends, family and loved ones who supported her from the beginning.

"Harana," directed by Marie Jamora, tells the story of a homesick Las Vegas lounge singer trying to connect with her daughter back in the Philippines. It aims to shed light on overseas Filipino workers in the US.

The short film also took home the Micheaux Film Festival award for Outstanding Music.

“Thank you to @micheauxfilmfest for this recognition,” Frenchesca wrote in her post.

“(It) really means so much for me to be able to share our stories and not only to be able to move people through our art, but also to spark change for the betterment of all,” she added.

Direk Marie also thanked her "Harana" family on Instagram, including Modulogeek, Jazz Nicolas of Itchyworms, and Mikey Amistoso of Ciudad who helped make the film's award-winning sound.

"Thanks to the Micheaux film festival and their programmers for recognizing our film and helping us share the story of the #OFW experience. I want to also acknowledge the rest of the Harana cast, crew, crowdfunders, supporters, and friends. Inuman na!" her post said.
