Miss World Philippines coronation night postponed anew, this time until further notice


The coronation night of the Miss World Philippines pageant, scheduled to take place on August 8, has been postponed anew, to a later date until further notice.

On Monday, Miss World Philippines made the announcement on social media, saying the new reschedule is due to the reimposition of the ECQ from August 6 to 20.

“The Miss World Philippines Organization has decided to postpone its coronation night indefinitely, until further notice,” the post read.

Metro Manila will be placed under the strictest enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) from August 6 to 20 in light of the threat posed by the Delta coronavirus variant.

Under ECQ only essential trips and services are allowed, while GCQ with heightened restrictions and additional restrictions protocol bans indoor and al fresco dining.

The event was initially scheduled on July 25 and was moved to August 8 when the government placed Metro Manila and four other provinces under GCQ with heightened restrictions.

The first postponement had all 45 candidates voting among themselves to select our representative of to the  Miss Supranational beauty pageant. Dindi Pajares of Orani, Bataan’s Dindi Pajares won.

She will fly to Poland on Tuesday to represent the Philippines in the Miss Supranational 2021 pageant, which is set for August 21.

Aside from the Miss World Philippines title, candidates will view for six more crowns: Miss Eco International Philippines, Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas, Miss Tourism Philippines, Miss Environment International Philippines, Miss Eco Teen International Philippines, and Miss Multinational Philippines. — Franchesca Viernes/LA, GMA News
