BJ Pascual reveals inspirations for Jennylyn Mercado's dreamy maternity shoot

Jennylyn Mercado looked like she leapt straight into a painting in her maternity photos taken by BJ Pascual.

In the latest episode of his vlog, Saturday, the celebrity fashion photographer revealed the pegs behind the dreamy production design.

BJ said his main themes for the project are volume and romanticism so that the images would indeed look as if they were rendered by brush and paint.

The color palette of muted jewel tones was inspired by the works of Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, a French neoclassical painter.

The flowers, meanwhile, were inspired by the works of Simon Pietersz Verelst, a Dutch still life painter.

According to Justine Arcega-Bumanlag, the production designer, they used fake flowers because Jennylyn is allergic to real flowers.

After the shoot, BJ asked Jennylyn what she thought of their concept.

"'Yung concept sabi ko parang, kaya ko ba 'to?" the Kapuso actress said. "Masyadong glam yata 'to para sa akin. Pero kinaya ko."

Jennylyn said that being pregnant adds some challenges when posing for shoots. BJ made the process as efficient as possible for her and also thanked her for being patient with the team.

"Walang problema, kinaya basta ikakaganda," Jennylyn said.

Meanwhile, BJ confessed that he has been a fan of Jen since 2003, her StarStruck days. He was even caught on camera cheering when she was announced as the winner of the first season.
