Ambassador of Japan in the Philippines brings dried mangoes to Yokohama's Gundam statue

Looks like even the Ambassador of Japan to the Philippines couldn’t get enough of dried mangoes.

On Twitter, H.E. Koshikawa Kazuhiko shared photos of himself enjoying the Pinoy delicacy as he stands in front of the giant Gundam statue in Yokohama.

“Ma-Gundam hapon po,” he wrote in the caption. “My Filipino friends once joked that they want this moving statue here in Yokohama to come to the Philippines.”

“For now, I brought a delicious piece of the Philippines here instead. Meryenda po tayo,” he added with hashtags #AmbKazMeetsGundam, #DriedMangoes, and #Masarap.

As of writing, the post has attracted nearly 2,000 likes and even retweets from Filipinos who couldn’t help but appreciate how the ambassador is still supporting the Philippines while he’s on vacation.

Just recently, he also made some Twitter users go “aww” when he shared how much he misses the country.

“Thinking about the [Philippines] and that refreshing kalamansi juice I had while I’m in [Japan] right now! Wondering what chef will come up with our harvest when I come back,” he said.

The statue in Yokohama is the first giant Gundam statue that moves. It can walk, kneel, and move its hands and fingers.

Care to witness its skills for yourself? Well, now might be the time as Japan has started to relax entry procedures since the COVID-19 situation has improved. —Franchesca Viernes/JCB, GMA News
