Francis M.'s hologram, a full-blown orchestra: Even The Eraserheads are excited for their upcoming reunion

When even the four members of The Eraserheads are excited for their upcoming reunion show, you know it's going to be good.

At Wednesday's press conference held at the Dolphy Theater, Ely Buendia, Raymund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala, and Marcus Adoro could not hide their excitement for their December 22 show.

Dubbed Huling El Bimbo, the reunion show comes after more than a decade of the last performance of The Eraserheads in the Philippines.

It is said to be the final reunion of the Eheads, which disbanded 20 years ago in 2002.

Alondside concert director  Paolo Valenciano and concert producer and WEU President Francis Lumen, the Eheads on Wednesday shared little bits and pieces about what they're personally looking forward to.

"I thought I'd be sick of the journey by now," Ely admitted. "But so far, it's been so full of surprises, like the orchestra."

Echoing Ely, Marcus marvelled at having a full ensemble of classical instruments accompany them. "First time naming tumugtog with a full blown orchestra. Parang wow, hininaan ko nang todo gitara ko para marining ko sila," he said.

"Excited kaming lahat," the Eheads guitarist said.

Meanwhile, Raymund pointed out that while they are the ones putting on a show, "we're also big music fans" with vast experiences of seeing shows here and attending concerts and festivals abroad.

As such, the Eheads drummer said they want to be able to give a good show, perhaps something at par with all the shows they've seen as music fans. "We want it to be a good show. We fight for things that we think will make it a good show," he said.

Apart from the orchestra, there is also the much-talked about performance with deceased rapper Francis M. via hologram.

"On December 22, we are going to revive [Francis M] and you will see him perform with the Eheads with the technology of hologram," WEU President Francis Lumen said at the press conference.

"That alone. That is something that will give you goosebumps."

Perhaps more than the spectacular stunts, fans can be assured of a super tight set. All four members of The Eraserheads have already come together and started rehearsing together as early as October.

While Raymund admits "rehearsals are weird because we haven't played in a long time," he also says they're "getting the hang of it."

Besides, the band is now equipped with better everything — a proper "sound system, nice guitars, real amps, real crew, really professional people in a good theater" — so that they're able to really give it their all.

But perhaps "all" is an understatement. "When you play rock n' roll, you can't just play 20%. It always has to be 110% or it won't be rock n' roll, right?" Raymund reasons.

According to Ely, the show might be"the first time we will be able to play the songs as we intended."

Huling El Bimbo is slated to take place on December 22 at the SMDC Festival Grounds in Parañaque. The promoters have already added to the concert capacity after tickets sold out shortly after they were announced. — With reports from Nika Roque, Francis Falgui/LA, GMA Integrated News
