Former UAAP courtside reporter Angelique Manto submits application for Miss Universe Philippines

Angelique Manto says “ibalik ang korona sa Pilipinas” as she gives Miss Universe Philippines a try.

On Instagram Monday, Angelique announced she has submitted her application for this year’s Miss Universe Philippines.

“From España to MUP stage,” the post, containing her gorgeous headshots, read.

In another post, Angelique said she will be “trying out for my biggest dream on the day that brought my biggest heartbreak,” which was her dad’s passing.

“I was seconds too late from catching the bus that would've brought me back home in his arms — I missed the opportunity to bid my last goodbye to him, it has been my biggest regret since.”

“So when you ask me how important today is — it means the universe to me. It's as if this was all made to happen today. That I get to finally take the leap towards my dream, our dream, on the day I will always remember my papa. An opportunity I dare not waste, I will not regret.”

Among the beauty queens that showered Angeline with support were Kylie Verzosa, Nicole Cordoves, and Katarina Rodriguez.

Angelique was University of Santo Tomas’ former courtside reporter during UAAP Seasons 78 and 79. She is famous for her “Ibalik ang korona sa España” line during one of the games.

Today, at 11:59PM, is the deadline of applications for Miss Universe Philippines 2023.
