'Likha' exhibit showcases local textiles and weavers in PICC
"Likha" exhibit, which showcases local textiles and weavers, is running until February 28 at the Philippine International Convention Center in Forum 2.
According to Oscar Oida's report on "24 Oras Weekend," Sunday, the event features products made from materials like abaca, piña, and more than 20 styles.
"Hindi namin puwedeng walain na ihinto ang aming kultura po," Nelia Ardaniel, a binakol weaver from Abra.
Al Valenciano, "Likha" exhibit volunteer organizer, said, "By helping them, you preserve a tradition that's fast dying."
GMA Network Senior Vice President for Programming, Talent Management, Worldwide, and Support Group and President of GMA Films Atty. Annette Gozon Valdes graced the event wearing an inabel hand-embroidered sleeveless coat.
"Nakakatuwa ngayon kasi parang may resurgence sa nationalism, patriotism. Nakita natin 'yun sa Maria Clara at Ibarra. Nabalik 'yung love for history," she said.
"Sana magka-resurgence din sa pagmamahal sa sariling natin kultura. Pati nga sa 'Mga Lihim ni Urduja,' abangan rin dun. Ipapakita rin dun and cultural jewelry ng Philippines."
The event was led by the Tourism Promotions Board and Office of the First Lady of the Philippines.
