Gladys Reyes wins best actress at the 2023 Summer MMFF


Gladys Reyes has been named best actress at the first Summer Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

She was honored for her role as Nita Balagtas in “Apag,” directed by Brillante Mendoza. The film follows the wealthy Raphael, who causes a deadly car accident and tries to cover up the case.

On Instagram, Gladys shared her thanks and said it was a huge honor to be part of the first Summer MMFF.

She first thanked God before adding, “Muli po sa mga hurado na pinangungunahan ni Bb. @dollyedeleon salamat, naniwala po kayo sa kakayahan ko.”

She then thanked Direk Brillante for the trust, Jaclyn Jose for the guidance, and Coco Martin for agreeing to do the movie.

Gladys dedicated the win to her late father.

“Para ito sa papa ko, Papa Sonyer[. Kung] buhay lang [siya] siguradong tuwang tuwa [siya],” she said.

“[At] sa Apo Sessia ko, na sa [kanya] ako natuto mag [Kapampangan],” she added.

Gladys also thanked her mom, siblings, friends, and manager, Lolit Solis. And of course, she showed gratitude to her husband Christopher Roxas and their kids.

About Us but Not About Us” meanwhile was the big winner at the first Summer Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Gabi ng Parangal, winning 10 awards out of 18, including best picture.
