Gold jewelry handmade by residents featured in Camarines Norte mini museum
By GMA Integrated News
Handmade gold jewelry is among the top pieces at a mini museum in Paracale, Camarines Norte.
According to a report on “Unang Balita,” the jewelry is made by the residents as one of the ways to commemorate the Pabirik Festival, an event that celebrates gold mining in Camarines Norte.
Pabirik, or gold pan, is used by town miners to separate gold from the earth after mining.
The museum displayed gold bangles, necklaces, and ear cuffs, all with intricate designs.
The report added that featuring the pieces of jewelry is a way for the local government to highlight their culture and to also showcase the residents’ talents. The pieces are also up for sale, in turn helping the residents’ livelihood. —Nika Roque/JCB, GMA Integrated News
