Tondo and QC residents honor Sto. Niño during festival processions

Residents and devotees filled the streets of Tondo, Manila and Bago Bantay in Quezon City on Sunday morning to honor the Sto. Niño, also known as the Holy Child of Jesus.

In Tondo, the procession started at 4 a.m., according to a report by Jhomer Apresto on Super Radyo dzBB.

The holy statue was placed in an acrylic glass mounted on a large carriage filled with flowers.

The procession went to several streets of Manila, including Yanco, Herbosa, Velasquez, and Sta. Maria, among others. The Sto. Niño returned to the Archdiocesan Shrine of Santo Niño at exactly 7:11 a.m.

Meanwhile, in Bago Bantay in Quezon City, a marching band led the procession of Sto. Niño images, as can be seen in photos shared by Super Radyo dzBB reporter Luisito Santos.

Aside from images on carriages, the procession was also participated in by devotees who carried in their arms their own Sto. Niño statues.

Other areas in the country also celebrate festivals in honor of the Sto. Niño, among them, Cebu City with its Sinulog Festival and Pagadian City with its Pasalamat Festival. —Hermes Joy Tunac/KG, GMA Integrated News
