Chito Miranda says watching the Parokya ni Edgar musical ‘was such an overwhelming experience’

Parokya ni Edgar on Friday watched the opening night of “Buruguduystunstugudunstuy: Ang Parokya ni Edgar Musical," which is the jukebox show featuring their songs.

Vocalist Chito Miranda posted an Instagram photo in the theater with his bandmates, guitarist Gab Chee Kee, guitarist Darius Semana, drummer Dindin Moreno, bassist Buwi Meneses, and backing vocalist Vinci Montaner.

“It was such an overwhelming experience,” Chito wrote.

“Maraming salamat sa lahat ng mga sira-ulong nilalang na bumuo ng show na 'to, at maraming maraming salamat sa lahat ng mga nanood (at manonood) ng ‘Buruguduystunstugudunstuy,’” he added.

Buruguduystunstugudunstuy: Ang Parokya ni Edgar Musical” is staged at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay City. According to NWR Musicals on Facebook, tickets to the April shows are now sold out.

The musical is named after Parokya’s debut album released in 1997. It is home to the OPM classics “Harana,” “Silvertoes,” “Sayang,” and “Please Don’t Touch My Birdie.”

The show has an all-female lead cast, starring Kyle Napuli, Marynor Madamesila, Tex de Leon, and Natasha Cabrera. It has the same creative team as “Ang Huling El Bimbo: The Musical.”

The Parokya musical was first announced on July 23 during the final curtain call of “Ang Huling El Bimbo” at the Newport Performing Arts Theater last July. The cast sang “Harana.” As they were performing, symbols flashed on the screen behind them, representing some of the band’s top hits.
