PH’s Chantal Elise Schmidt is 2024 Miss Eco International 1st runner-up

Philippine bet Chantal Elise Schmidt finished her Miss Eco International 2024 as 1st runner-up.

During the pageant’s Top 5 question and answer portion, the Cebuana beauty queen was asked the question: “As a queen how can you use your platform to positively impact your community?”

Chantal answered: “I am a beauty queen but I’m also a young girl. I am also a fashion enthusiast. Like you heard earlier, I advocate for sustainable fashion. I love trends, I love fashion. Fashion is art and fashion tells us a story. But I also know that fashion is the biggest contributor to pollution nowadays. So as a queen, I pledged to champion and have already championed sustainable fashion by repurposing, and reusing, and recycling my wardrobe. If you take a look at my Instagram, you can see that in this Miss Eco International journey, I have cut off my own clothes, I have used my own clothes and I have given them a new life. That is how beauty queen inspires us to give a better change to the world, to be better and to strive for a better future.”

Aside from first runner-up, she also won the Best Evening Gown and the Best in National Costume awards.

Angelina Usanova of Ukraine was crowned Miss Eco International 2024.

Miss Canada was hailed as the second runner-up, while Brazil and Indonesia’s representatives were named the third and fourth runner-up respectively.

Chantal flew to Egypt last week to vy for the country's third Miss Eco International crown.

In 2018, Thia Thomalla won the country's first Miss Eco International title. Kathleen Paton gave the Philippines its second crown in 2022.
