Celebrate Philippine Independence Day Around the World with GMA Pinoy TVĀ 

Every year, Filipinos around the globe come together to commemorate Philippine Independence Day. This year, GMA Pinoy TV joins Global Pinoys in celebrating Filipino heritage and culture by participating in the 2024 Philippine Independence Day Celebrations (PIDC) across the USA, Canada, Japan, Singapore, Italy, and Australia!

Kicking off the month-long celebration, Vallejo, California hosted Pista sa Nayon on Saturday, June 1 at Mare Island Coal Shed. Organized by the Filipino Community of Solano County, the event offered nonstop entertainment, delicious food, shopping, and many more activities to its visitors. 

Meanwhile, in New York City, the Philippine Independence Day Council (PIDC) unveiled a grand Philippine Independence Day Parade on Sunday, June 2. The parade march, which started from 38th until Madison Avenue, was a showcase of Philippine culture that gave spectators an unforgettable experience.

USA

Fil-Ams for Financial Freedom (Oakbrook Terrace, IL)

For Global Pinoys looking to secure their financial future, this event by Red Ink Creative Concepts is a must-attend. Participate in insightful conversations plus an opportunity to gain financial knowledge. The event will happen at Oakbrook Financial Center, 1815 S. Meyers Road, Suite 100 on Thursday, June 6, at 6:30 p.m. 

Piyesta Pinoy (Bolingbrook, IL)

Celebrate Filipino American culture at Piyesta Pinoy! Organized by the Philippine American Cultural Foundation, the event promises a day filled with arts, music, cuisine, and performances that showcase Filipino heritage. Head to Roger C Claar Performing Arts Center/Town Center on Saturday, June 8, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. 

126th Philippine Independence Day Celebration (Carson, CA)

 

 

Commemorate the founding of the Philippine Republic with Filipino pop music artists, local talents, cultural exhibits, and delicious food booths! The City of Carson Community Services hosts this event at the Veterans Park, 22400 Moneta Avenue, on Saturday, June 8 from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Philippine Independence Celebration of Staten Island (Staten Island, NY)

Experience colorful parades, traditional dances, and music that capture the spirit of Filipino heritage and pride. Organized by PICOSI, the event celebrates the vibrant Filipino community and the rich diversity of Staten Island. Head to 950 Castleton Ave. on Saturday, June 8, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Philippine Independence Day Celebration (Lafitte, LA)

Presented by the Philippine Louisiana Historical Society in partnership with Kapitbahay of Greater New Orleans, this event offers a chance to celebrate Philippine Independence Day not only by enjoying Filipino culture but by availing of a free hearing screening from Pinay Audiologist Cathy Lo. The celebration, supported by the Filipino American Association of Baton Rouge and the New Orleans Filipino American Lions Club, will take place at Jean Lafitte Town Hall, 2654 Jean Lafitte Boulevard on Saturday, June 8.

Filipino Day Grand Parade (Albany, NY)

Experience the rich and vibrant Filipino culture at the Filipino Day Grand Parade.  Organized by the Kalayaan 1521 Council Inc., the grand celebration is a testament to the resilience and richness of Filipino heritage. Join the festivities at Washington Park, on Saturday, June 29, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

Pistahang Bayan 2024 (Jersey City, NJ)

Get ready for a fusion of Filipino culture and community spirit at Pistahang Bayan 2024! This event, proudly organized by the Consulate General of the Philippines, NY, promises festivities, entertainment, and culinary delights at the prestigious New Jersey City University Gym, John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center on Sunday, June 30. Don’t miss this unforgettable Independence Day Filipino experience!

Canada

Pinoy Fiesta and Trade Show sa Toronto (Toronto, Ontario)

Global Pinoys in Toronto are invited to this day-long outdoor event by the Philippine Canadian Charitable Foundation. Enjoy the fun activities, and exciting entertainment, and explore booths at the trade show! Head to Albert Campbell Square, 150 Borough Drive, on Saturday, June 8, from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Admission is free!

 

 

2024 OFWS and Caregivers Day (Toronto, Ontario) 

The Canadian Caregivers Assistance Organization (CCAO) - Bayanihan devotes a day to recognizing the hard work and sacrifices of OFWs and caregivers. Join them at Earl Bales Park, Area 2 on Wednesday, June 15, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

TAYO -  A Filipino Cultural Immersive Experience (Toronto, Ontario)

Tayo, meaning “us” in Filipino, is an outdoor activity that will allow visitors to experience the traditions of the Philippines: Harana (courtship serenade), All About Ube High Tea (featuring purple yam), Kamayan (eating food laid on banana leaves with bare hands), and many more. Enjoy Filipino cuisine at the Mama Sita’s and Panaderia’s showcase and explore the Heritage Marketplace for shopping. Fun Filipino games and music will complete the experience! Head to Mel Lastman Square, 5100 Yonge Street on Saturday, June 15 to 16. Admission is free. 

 

 

Filipino Heritage Month: Basketball Tournament/Festival (Toronto, Ontario)

Celebrate the Filipinos’ favorite sport at this event organized by Filipinosinthe6ix and the Ontario Basketball Association. The event will also highlight Filipino leaders from various communities known for their charitable initiatives. Join the festivities at Havergal College, 1451 Avenue Road from June 28 to 30. 

Europe

Balik-Saya sa Italya (Rome, Italy)

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) returns its “Balik Saya” show to Rome! Besides entertainment, Global Pinoys can also look forward to listening to OWWA Administrator Arnell Ignacio speak at the variety show. The event will take place at Atlantico, Viale dell'Oceano Atlantico, 271D on Sunday, June 9, 2024.

 

 

Sandiwa Fiesta Europa (Kalayaan 2024) (Milan, Italy)

Sandiwa Fiesta Europa is the culminating event of the month-long commemoration by the Filipino Community in Northern Italy of the 126th anniversary of Philippine Independence. The two-day event promises a series of concerts, cultural performances, and a parade. It is expected to draw thousands of Filipinos from Italy and other parts of Europe. Join the festivities at Parco Idroscalo, Via Circonvallazione, 29 on Saturday, June 30 and Sunday, July 1. 

Japan

Pistang Pilipino (Nagoya, Japan)

The Filipino-Japanese community will come together in a lively fiesta organized by 

One Network Company Limited and the Filipino Community Central Japan. Celebrate the 126th Philippine Independence Day and Filipino Migrant's Day at Edion Hisaya Park on Saturday, June 15 and 16. 

Singapore

Fiesta sa bayan ni Juan, Pagdiriwang ng Pagkakaibigan

The Filipino Community in Singapore promises a grand celebration filled with music, dance, and Filipino games. Don’t miss this exciting event at the Philippine Bayanihan Centre on Friday, June 23.

Australia

Philippine Grand Fiesta (Melbourne, Australia)

A vibrant and grand celebration of Philippine arts, culture, and cuisine awaits at the Queen Victoria Market on Sunday, June 30. The event organized by Mr. Ed Guevarra of EMG Cargo Services is a must-attend for Filipino-Australians in Victoria. Explore Filipino delights, witness cultural performances, and experience the warmth of the Filipino community.
