Mika Salamanca launches first children’s book ‘Lipad’ at MIBF 2025

Mika Salamanca — actress, singer, influencer, "PBB" Big Winner, and now, book author.

The multi-hyphenate artist launched her debut children’s book “Lipad” at the Manila International Book Festival (MIBF) at the SMX Convention Center on Friday.

At the event, Mika read the book to a crowd of fans. Afterwards, she held a book signing and meet and greet. 

“Sobrang saya ko po,” Mika told GMA News Online after the book reading. “Sobrang tuwa ko po na nandito na po siya, and finally, magiging available na po para sa mga tao at may matutulungan po tayong mas maraming mga bata.”

Mika also expressed her gratitude that the book launch was attended by kids and adults alike.

“Lipad” tells the story of a diwata named Mahika, who is insecure because her wings are different from the rest. 

According to Mika, the character was inspired by herself. 

“Si Mahika po, nag-si-symbolize po ‘yun ng kung sino ako nung time na takot pa ‘ko, nung time na bata pa ‘ko or pausbong pa lamang ako sa mundo,” she said. 

She added that Mahika meets another character who helps her in her journey.

“Isa po siyang kabuuan ng lahat ng taong tumulong sa ‘kin, lahat po ng pagsubok at history ng buhay ni Mahika kaya po siya mas stronger kay Mahika.” 

Mika hopes that the book would encourage people to embrace what makes them unique. 

“Mas malungkot kayo kung ‘di kayo iba. Lahat ng tao may pagkakaiba. Kahit sa strand ng buhok mo, kahit sa nunal mo, magkakaiba ang mga tao,” she said. 

“Kung ‘di mo pa nakikita ang kumpiyansang lumipad, maglakad ka muna at maghanap ka ng makakasabay mo. Dahil ang paglalakbay na ‘to ay malayo pero masaya.”

Mika was among the 20 housemates of "Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition." She finished as the season's Big Winner alongside her Kapamilya duo Brent Manalo.
