'Balota,' 'Green Bones' reap several wins in Manila Film Critics Circle Awards
The GMA Pictures-produced films "Green Bones" and "Balota" reaped several recognitions at the Manila Film Critics Circle Awards.
Leading the awards for "Green Bones" was Dennis Trillo, who won the Best Actor Award. Meanwhile, Neil Daza won the Best Cinematography, while screenplay writer Anj Atienza and the National Artist Ricky Lee took home the Best Screenplay Awards.
Like "Green Bones," the 2024 Cinemalaya film also won three awards, winning Best Original Story for film director Kip Oebanda, Marian Rivera for Best Actress, and Will Ashley for Best Supporting Actor.
Previously, Marian won Best Actress at the FAMAS Awards 2025 for her role as Teacher Emmy in "Balota," while "Green Bones" bagged Best Screenplay (Ricky Lee and Anj Atienza).
She also took home the Best Actress Award at the EDDYs Awards 2025 in July.
Meanwhile, Dennis earlier won the Best Actor at the 2025 Gawad Urian for his role as Domingo Zamora in "Green Bones." The Metro Manila Film Festival 2024 Best Picture also took home the Best Production Design award.
