Pampanga to host PH’s first large-scale Water Lantern Festival

Pampanga to host PH’s first large-scale Water Lantern Festival

A Vietnam-inspired floating lantern festival is set to be staged on a large scale in the country for the first time, with organizers targeting more than 10,000 attendees on May 10 at Lakeshore Pampanga.

Organized by Vibe Events, the Lumina Water Lantern Festival is being positioned as the Philippines’ largest eco-friendly water lantern display.

Tickets for the event sold out in three days when it was first launched in a smaller setting at a cafe in the province.

Due to high demand, organizers transferred the event to a bigger venue to accommodate more participants.

Scheduled for Mother’s Day, the festival will center on a mass water lantern release at dusk. Participants will write personal messages or wishes on eco-friendly lanterns before setting them afloat on the lake.

Organizers said they are aiming for over 10,000 attendees as they attempt to mount the country’s largest coordinated floating lantern display. Tickets are priced at P499, P999, and P1,999. —VBL, GMA Integrated News
