Gloc-9 reintroduces himself as Aristotle Pollisco ahead of poetry collection launch
Gloc-9 is reintroducing himself with his real name, Aristotle Pollisco, for the launch of his poetry books later this week.
On Thursday, the rapper-poet is set to launch “Makata Sa Pinas,” a seven-chapbook poetry collection, at the Philippine Book Festival 2026 in SM Megamall.
A chapbook is a small, unbound, paper-covered book, McGill Library explains — something like a booklet or a zine.
In collaboration with local small press Everything's Fine, "Makata sa Pinas" revisits themes that have appeared throughout Gloc-9’s music, organizing them into seven volumes.
The first three chapbooks explore the personal: “Pagkatao” traces his development as a poet and his roots in Binangonan, Rizal, while “Pangarap” tackles his aspirations to become a songwriter and rapper, and what achieving those dreams means to him. The third installment, “Pursigi,” reflects on the hard work, persistence, and values needed to pursue one’s dreams and ambitions.
The next two chapbooks center on storytelling: “Pag-ibig” explores different forms of love, while “Komunidad” tells everyday stories from local neighborhoods.
The final two volumes address social and political themes: “Lipunan” reflects on the kind of society people collectively shape, while “Bayan” represents stories about the nation from the perspective of ordinary Filipinos.
On Instagram, Everything's Fine said it was Gloc-9's idea to publish his poems as a zine. "It was Gloc-9's discography itself that dictated the seven subjects that make each of the seven zines, subjects that he has waxed poetic about, within which he has built stories," said Katrina Stuart Santiago, who is a co-owner of the Makati-based local press.
"And across all seven zines, what we are treated to is not just the poetry of Aristotle Pollisco, but the life's work of a writer of nation," she adds.
Gloc-9 is no stranger to books. The “Sirena” hitmaker first authored a book in 2017, a poetry collection titled “Akin Lang Naman.”
Gloc-9 will attend the “Makata Sa Pinas” book launch on March 12, 2026, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Philippine Book Festival 2026 at SM Megamall. — LA, GMA Integrated News
