What does 'ngani' mean and how do you use it?
"Ngani" is a new trending term on- and offline, and used by people across all ages too. But what does it mean, and how do you use it?
In Aubrey Carampel's report on "24 Oras Weekend," Sunday, Bicolano author Kristian Cordero said "ngani" originates from Bicol Naga in Bicol Central.
"Generic na tugon ito kapag medyo makulit ang kausap o ang nagsasalita ang kumakausap sa 'yo," he said.
Recently, though, "ngani" has been used by more and more people to mean "OK," "yes," and "right."
Because of social media, the meaning of the term also change.
"Nasa level ito ng cuteness o nagpapa-cute. Nasa level ito ng affinity din. O kung gusto mo gamitin ang 'ngani' regardless dahil uso ito ngayon, wala namang nagbabawal sa 'yo," Cordero said.
However, Cordero also has this reminder.
"Obligasyon din natin na pangalagaan 'yung sa tingin natin na maganda sa mga wika natin," he said. —Nika Roque/MGP, GMA Integrated News
