DreamWorks Animation is embracing Philippine culture in its upcoming animated film, "Forgotten Island."

The first trailer just dropped, offering a sneak peek at Liza Soberano and H.E.R. as Raissa and Jo, two childhood best friends.

Their journey begins after their high school graduation, as they are about to embark on college life. As they prepare to take separate paths, Jo and Raissa accidentally travel to the island of Nakali, a mysterious place populated by Filipino mythical creatures.

The longer they stay on the island, the more their memories fade. As they search for a way home, they encounter Raww (Dave Franco), a weredog, and the island’s most feared creature, the Dreaded Manananggal (Lea Salonga).

The trailer showcases elements of Filipino culture that resonate with childhood friendships: from charm-filled friendship bracelets with personal meaning, to riding the iconic jeepney, to neighborhoods reminiscent of Filipino homes, and the classic classroom setup in Philippine schools.

Aside from Liza, H.E.R., Dave, and Lea, the film also stars Dolly de Leon, Manny Jacinto, Jenny Slate, Jo Koy, and Ronny Chieng.

The film is set for theatrical release on September 23.
