First official 'Attack on Titan' orchestral concert set for Manila in 2027

Anime fans in the Philippines will get a rare chance to experience "Attack on Titan" in a new way.

Film Concerts PH announced that "Attack on Titan: Symphony from Paradis" will be staged on August 28 and 29, 2027 at The Theatre at Solaire, bringing together more than 100 musicians and singers in a live performance that blends music and visuals from the acclaimed anime.

The upcoming full-scale orchestral concert is the first officially licensed symphonic production of the global hit series.

Billed as "a colossal symphonic event," the concert will feature the Filharmonika Orchestra alongside the Philippine Madrigal Singers, with high-definition projections from the television series displayed on a large screen during the performance.

Unlike previous "Attack on Titan" concerts that leaned on a rock-orchestra format, the upcoming production takes an "orchestra-first" approach, emphasizing concert hall arrangements designed to highlight the emotional depth of the series—from tension and urgency to melancholy and catharsis.

The music has been newly arranged under the supervision of original composers Hiroyuki Sawano and Kohta Yamamoto, whose scores helped define the anime's global appeal.

Sawano said he is "delighted" that the soundtrack will be performed in full orchestral form for the first time across major venues worldwide, describing the project as a chance for audiences to experience "a new kind of expression and grandeur."

Yamamoto, meanwhile, credited the series' international fanbase for making the concert possible and expressed anticipation over hearing compositions—originally blending orchestral, electronic, and rock elements—reimagined purely for orchestra.

The Manila shows are part of a wider global tour that will premiere at London's Royal Albert Hall in October 2026, followed by stops in Hong Kong and New York before expanding to other regions.

Tickets in the Philippines will go on pre-sale for Film Concerts PH community members from May 1 to May 3, 2026, with general sales opening on May 26 through TicketWorld outlets.

Created by Hajime Isayama, "Attack on Titan" has grown into one of the best-selling manga and anime franchises worldwide, with over 140 million copies sold and a television adaptation that ran from 2013 to 2023. —Sherylin Untalan/MGP, GMA News
