Cine Europa to screen 20 European films for free starting May 28
Cine Europa is making a return this May!
The 29th edition of the longest-running European film festival in the Philippines will take place from May to July, with free screenings at the Shangri-La Plaza in Mandaluyong City starting May 28 to June 3.
The festival will then continue in Rizal Park from June 15 to June 20.
Aside from Manila and Mandaluyong, Cine Europa will also hold screenings at the Eastern Visayas State University in Tacloban and the Liceo de Cagayan University in Cagayan de Oro.
Other details, such as screening schedules, have yet to be announced, so stay tuned. All screenings are free on a first-come, first-served basis.
This year's Cine Europa brings 20 award-winning European films to the fore, starting with Czech director Jiří Mádl's thriller drama, "The Waves."
According to a press release by the EU's diplomatic service, the European External Action Service (EEAS), the 29th Cine Europa will be launched by EU Ambassador to the Philippines Massimo Santoro and Shangri-La Plaza Executive Vice President Joy Polloso.
"Cine Europa is about watching movies and sharing experiences, values, and cultures between European Union and the Philippines,” Santoro was quoted as saying. “We are pleased to invite everyone to watch the carefully curated and excellent films from the EU, its Member States, and Ukraine."
