Will Barbie Forteza do theater? Actress says she’s waiting for the right role

Barbie Forteza said performing on the theater stage remains one of her dreams, though she admitted she still needs to build the courage and confidence to make it happen.

At the gala night of PETA’s “Ang Babae sa Septic Tank 4: Oh Sh*t! It’s Live sa Cheter!,” the Kapuso actress shared she has "dreams to be on threater."

I just need to gather more courage and confidence maybe,” Barbie told GMA News Online, adding she’s also waiting for the right material before committing to a stage production.

“I’m just wishing and hoping for a very good material na worth it talagang pagkuhanan ng oras at araw. It takes a lot of rehearsals and all that,” she said.

Although she has yet to think of a specific dream role, Barbie said she would gladly take on a stage production if the right opportunity came along.

“Nothing comes to mind yet. But again, if something good falls into my lap, I will definitely do it."

According to Barbie, watching “Ang Babae sa Septic Tank 4” gave her an even greater appreciation for theater artists.

“Ang nakita natin yung finished product niya, pero yung paggawa niyan, mabusisi talaga. So I think mas ’yun yung kailangan ko pang paghandaan,” she said, as she expressed admiration for the cast and the work that goes into staging a production.

Barbie also praised the production, calling it both “smart” and “funny.”

“It was so smart. It was so funny that you have to take it seriously. That’s all I have to say. The rest, you just have to see for yourself,” she said as she also encouraged audiences to watch the play with family and friends.

“Ako kasi nanood ako tonight alone. I guess that’s the one mistake I did. So when you watch this, make sure marami kayong kasama kasi ang gandang experience niya to share with so many."

The actress also welcomed the continued growth of Philippine theater.

“I am very happy. Sana ganito rin ang pelikula,” she said, adding that she has recently been enjoying straight plays and is looking forward to watching more shows.
