Intramuros teases Balangay attraction along Pasig River Esplanade

Intramuros is preparing a new way for visitors to experience the historic Walled City.

On Facebook, the Intramuros Administration teased the arrival of a Balangay, a new attraction set to open at the Pasig River Esplanade.

“Something BIG is about to make waves in Intramuros,” the teaser read.

As of writing, the Intramuros Administration has yet to reveal the Balangay's opening date.

The balangay is an ancient Filipino boat that dates back to the pre-colonial period.

It was the first wooden watercraft ever excavated in Southeast Asia and demonstrated the early Filipinos' boat-building ingenuity and seamanship expertise.
