Lav Diaz's 'Makikiraan Po' to premiere at Venice Film Festival 2026
“Makikiraan Po” by director Lav Diaz is set to have its world premiere at no less than the 83rd Venice International Film Festival in September.
The upcoming film is set during the Spanish colonization of the Philippines, and depicts how churches built in the 17th century through the forced labor of thousands of native Filipinos stand as enduring reminders of the violence, plunder, and suffering brought by colonial rule.
The announcement was made by Lovi Poe, who serves as the film's executive producer through C'est Lovi Productions.
“Grateful to everyone who helped bring this story to life,” Lovi said on Instagram.
"Makikiraan Po" is produced by C'est Lovi Productions, Epicmedia Productions, and Sine Olivia Pilipinas.
It stars Bart Guingona, Ronnie Lazaro, Isabel Sandoval, Yul Servo, Christian Bables, and Bong Cabrera.
