QC residents bring pets with them to evacuation center amid heavy rains, flooding

Some Quezon City residents didn't hesitate to bring their pets to evacuation centers amid persistent heavy rains and flooding caused by the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).

On Facebook, the official Quezon City Government page shared photos of residents taking shelter at evacuation centers together with their dogs and cats.

Some parts of Quezon City, including Barangay Bagong Silangan, were submerged in floodwaters after the Marikina River rose to the third alarm.

According to an early Sunday report by GMA News' Gabriel Gonzales, muddy floodwaters had reached the Humanity area, prompting residents to use boats to navigate through flooded portions of the barangay.

Residents have evacuated to a designated evacuation center in Bagong Silangan, with nearly 3,000 individuals reportedly seeking shelter there as of early Sunday.

Meanwhile, the low pressure area (LPA) being monitored inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has developed into a tropical depression named Pilandok.
