Tucker Budzyn, social media-famous golden retriever, dies days after cancer diagnosis

Just days after his fur mom, Courtney Budzyn, announced his cancer diagnosis, social media-famous dog Tucker Budzyn has passed away. He was eight.

In a tearful video on Facebook, Courtney announced that her beloved dog died on September 2 following complications from cancer.

She said Tucker initially seemed to be responding well to his cancer treatment and appeared to be heading toward remission. However, they later found out that he had developed lymphoma in his intestine.

"It [the treatment] left a hole in his intestine where the cancer was, and he got an infection that seemed to hit him overnight," she said.

"We woke up, and we rushed him in, and we thought we were going to beat the infection," she added. "He was so weak."

Courtney said Tucker was given "antibiotics and fluid," but it was too late.

She added that Tucker's temperature "kept rising" and that they eventually had to let him go.

"There's nothing in this world that I wouldn't have done for him," Courtney said. "He was literally part of me."

"He was part of my soul," she added. "It feels like I lost a body part."

Nevertheless, Courtney said Tucker had a life well lived, especially during the last three weeks of his life.

"I don't know how to live, but I have to," she said. "He didn't lie by my side for all those years just for me to give up."

Courtney announced Tucker's cancer diagnosis on August 30.

She adopted him in 2018 and gained an international following on different social media platforms.

The story of Courtney and Tucker is also documented in the upcoming book dubbed "Of All the Sniffs I Love the Most," set for release in November.
