Miss Austria 2024 Lucia Sisic dies at 22

Miss Austria 2024 Lucia Sisic has passed away. She was 22.

Her untimely passing was announced in a Facebook post by Miss Austria organization Mission Austria on Tuesday.

“It is with great dismay and deep sorrow that we learned of the passing of our Miss Austria 2024, Lucia Sisic,” they wrote.

“Lucia will remain in our memories as a wonderful young woman. Our thoughts and deep compassion are with her during this difficult time for her family, friends, and all those who were close to her."

Mission Austria added that Lucia will always remain part of the Miss Austria family.

“Rest in peace,” it said.

Lucia’s cause of death has not been disclosed, but according to a report by USA Today, the Austrian beauty queen was born with a heart valve defect and had seven heart surgeries, the most recent occurring last winter.

In an Instagram post in August 2024, Lucia opened up about her years-long health journey and expressed her gratitude to her pediatric cardiology team as she prepared to transition to adult cardiology care.

Lucia was crowned Miss Austria in 2024 and was the reigning queen, as there was no Miss Austria pageant in 2025 and 2026.
