Kris Allen, Boyce Avenue, and Jabbawockeez wow RP

Singer Kris Allen, who took home the top prize in American Idol’s eighth season, recently took center stage in the Philippines for his Musicfest 2010 concert series. Allen worked his pipes over the weekend as he performed at the SM Cebu open grounds last February 5 and at the Mckinley Hills Concert Grounds in Taguig last February 6. Allen performed original songs from his self-titled album such as “Red Guitar," “Falling Slowly," “Can’t Stay Away," and “Live Like We’re Dying," as well as covers of Kanye West’s “Heartless," Michael Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror," and the Beatles’ “Heartless." Allen was joined by America’s Best Dance Crew first season champs Jabbawockeez, all-male hip-hop dance crew from California known for wearing white Kabuki-style masks, and gloves. The crew is especially popular in the Philippines as some of its members are Fil-Ams Randy Bernal, Chris Gatdula, Joe Larot, Rynan Paguio, and Phil Tayag. The other Jabbawockeez members are Eddie Gutierrez, Ben Chung, Kevin Brewer, Jeff Nguyen, and Saso Jimenez. Boyce Avenue, a Florida-based band popular for its strong acoustic roots, also powered up the Musicfest 2010 line-up. The all-male band, made up of brothers Alejandro, Fabian, and Daniel Manzano, is famous for their covers of popular hits such as Leona Lewis’ “Bleeding Love," One Republic’s “Apologize," and Rihanna’s “Umbrella." The Metro Card Club, Fearless Productions, and Channel V Philippines presented Musicfest 2010. - FVI, GMANews.TV
