Walkin' fierce: PHL grabs Guinness World Record for most people on catwalk

Over 2,000 models strutted down the ramp as they went for the “Most people walking on a catwalk” Guinness World Record (GWR) at the Glorietta Mall in Makati on Thursday.

Entitled “Move to the Vibe of Glorietta,” the fashion show aimed to put the Philippines on the map of fashion by making it the “fashion capital of the world” through setting a record.

The fashion show featured 2,255 models aged 18 to 45 including personalities, celebrities, professional and amateur models. Before the Philippines broke the record, the title-holder was Turkey at 1,967 people.

The models were wearing the latest fashion ensemble for the new season provided by various signature shops from the mall. Solo performers like Bamboo and Kyle Patrick also entertained the audience while the models took the ramp.

Meanwhile, the GWR for the “Most people modelling on a catwalk” for multiple venues is held by France according to the official site of Guinness

There were 3,912 models who participated this event across 52 towns on September 17 of 2011. As of now, the Philippines is the title holder for the “Most people walking on a catwalk” of the GWR.

One day, two world records

Meanwhile, a Filipina also set her own record on the same day for the GWR.

Gina Gil Lacuna became the world record holder for the largest collection of jigsaw puzzles according to an earlier report

She broke Brazil's Luiza Figueiredo's record who reigned for two years with her collection consisting of 1,028 puzzles.

“I started doing puzzles when I got to Hong Kong 26 years ago,” said Lacuna, who solved a 5000-piece Disney set for her son, Gino. “Doing puzzles is not easy, that’s why I don’t get any help!”

Lacuna's finished puzzles are in a Mansion in Tagaytay which ranges from mural-sized classic painting and custom-made photos to name a few.
