Loboc Children's Choir sing to raise funds for ruined Bohol churches
Coming from a region now trying to recover from the devastating onslaught of super typhoon Yolanda, the Loboc Children's Choir of Bohol last week held a charity concert in Makati to raise funds for the repair of the centuries-old churches in their home province that were damaged and destroyed by last month's 7.2 magnitude earthquake.
One of these damaged churches is the Church of San Pedro in the children's hometown.
The choir's voices rose above the sound of the rain outside as pictures of the devastation were shown behind them.
"There was a mission for us. Na-realize namin na ang pag-perform ng mga bata is a part of the rebuilding of Bohol," said the choir's musical director Alma Taldo in Dano Tingcungco's report on "Saksi."
"What is important in the case of Bohol [in] how it can revive the tourism industry is to be very focused on maybe trying to identify a specific church that could be rehabilitated," said Ayala Land president and CEO Tony Aquino in the same report.
Since its founding in 1980, the Loboc Children's Choir has performed locally and overseas, and has taken home national and international awards over the years. — BM, GMA News
