Sincerely Yours, Iskolar ng Bayan

Sincerely Yours, Macaroni and Spaghetti.

No, that's not the punch line of a cute food commercial. They are the names of three siblings, one of whom became a bit of an internet sensation when she was listed among the passers of the University of the Philippines College Admission Test (UPCAT) for the 2014-2015 school year and netizens latched onto her name.

The names of Sincerely Yours '98 Pascual, Cressida B3 Reyes, and Jules Cyber 1A22 Cruz, incoming Iskolar ng Bayan, were thought to be system errors at first.

But Sincerely Yours '98 (nicknamed Truly) explained on Thursday in an interview on "Unang Hirit" that her family is simply into giving their children unique names: her older siblings are Macaroni '85 and Spaghetti '88.

Macaroni, Spaghetti and Truly also have cousins named Design and Research.

And Spaghetti is the mother of Cheese Pimiento.

Given that her two older siblings were named after pasta, why then is Truly not named Angelhair '98 or something similar?

"Parang naging habol na lang po ako sa magkakapatid. 'Yung plan lang ng parents ko is 'yung Macaroni at Spaghetti, tapos 'di po expected kasi ten years po yung gap namin nung ate ko. Ginawa na lang po nilang ending, kasi bunso na po, so Sincerely Yours na po," she explained.

She says her unique nomenclature does nothing for her, other than getting her featured on television. Her classmates, who she says she grew up with, have become used to her and her family's singular naming system. If she does get teased, it is with affection, and with silly nicknames like Respectfully Yours.

Did she ever ask her parents about their name choices? Truly said she has never really been curious about it. Growing up with family members named Macaroni, Spaghetti, Design and Research simply made being named after the closing statement of a letter an ordinary thing.

And Truly fully intends to continue the family tradition years from now, when she's got a family of her own. While her future second-born child has no set name yet, she intends the name of her first-born to complement hers: Signature. — Rie Takumi/BM, GMA News
