Purple and comfy in ‘Trendy-fourteen’: Style predictions for next year
Fashion fades, but style is eternal.
Indeed, “reinventing the wheel” will be the hot theme of 2014, according to fashion designer Francis Libiran in a "Saksi" video Monday.
Much of what was “in” in 2013 will still be fashionable in 2014, only composed of different fabrics and textures.
“It's reinventing mga old styles, you know—like the bomber jacket,” he said. “Pero ang twist kasi doon is, medyo gagawin siyang printed—and more of luxurious fabrics.”
However, image etiquette and protocol consultant Olen Juarez-Lim was quick to caution, “These are guidelines. Dapat alamin natin kung ano yung babagay sa atin—'wag lang tayo sunud nang sunod sa rin sa uso for 2014.”

International company Pantone, which dictates the color of the year for the fashion industry, stated that 2014's color will be “Radiant Orchid.” This is inclusive of pink, purple, fuchsia, raspberry, lilac, deep maroon—everything in a mix of red and blue, erring on the side of red.
Loud and flair styles are still in for women in the coming year. One can also expect a steady stream of teacup and skater skirts, and the ability to wear ornate jewellry and still be trendy.
Meanwhile, double-breasted coats will become the fad for men. Boys should invest in nice watches, leather shoes, and “man purses” or leather bags.
Ultra-skinny pants will still be the thing for both men and women.
Patterns will not be as simple as they were the previous year, yet it is of utmost importance to utilize a pattern suited to your personality and flattering to your body type.
