After his successful book-signing events over the weekend, it's time for international best-selling author Mitch Albom to give back.

Albom donated books to the children of an elementary school in Palo, Leyte on Monday, a report aired on GMA News TV's "News to Go" said.

The report said Albom also promised to send in more funds to help rebuild 10 libraries destroyed by typhoon Yolanda which hit the province in November last year.

Aside from the books he has personally written, Albom also distributed books by other international best-selling authors like Stephen King and Anne Rice as well as J.K. Rowling's famous Harry Potter series.

In an earlier interview aired on "State of the Nation" on Thursday, Albom said he would also donate 40 boats to the province.

Albom arrived in the country on Thursday, February 20 to promote his latest novel "The First Phone Call from Heaven," in which the country was also mentioned as a setting in one of its chapters.

But Albom said that apart from promoting his latest novel, his main intention for visiting the Philippines is to call for more help in areas devastated by Yolanda.

Albom is the author of best-selling novels like "Tuesdays with Morrie," "The Five People You Meet in Heaven" and "For One More Day." —Elizabeth Marcelo/KG, GMA News
