The University of the Philippines took to YouTube on Monday to give its new graduates tips on how to land the jobs they want.

In a message, UP President Alfredo Pascual said the Department of Labor and Employment's Bureau of Labor Relations released the videos to help them pursue their career paths.

"These videos will guide you as you prepare your application for the institutions and organizations where you believe you will be able to best pursue your dreams. They will also aid you in establishing your own livelihood should you find it fitting for you to blaze your own trail in your chosen profession," Pascual said.

He added he is confident the UP has sufficiently prepared its alumni for what he called "the life of service outside the hallowed grounds of the university."

The UP said the video give tips for people planning to apply for a job.

It was the first of a series of seven Employment Guide videos produced by the DOLE-BLR for workers in various situations.

"As the national university, we abide by the belief that a great university prepares its students for successful careers and responsible citizenship. And as the national university, it is incumbent upon UP to prepare its graduates for leadership roles in their respective disciplines and professions," Pascual said.

"I hope that as you pursue your dreams, you will also tread your paths conscious of honor and excellence, guided by the obligation that as iskolar ng bayan, you are expected to serve the people," he added. — Joel Locsin/JDS, GMA News
