Kapuso stars, floral floats shine at Kadayawan Fest in Davao City

GMA stars joined in Kadayawan sa Dabaw's fun over the weekend, with Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes and the cast of "Ang Dalawang Mrs. Real" entertaining thousands of fans at Davao City's biggest festival.

Also there were Dennis Trillo and the cast of "The Half Sisters," as well as the cast of "Dading" (Gabby Eigenmann, Glaiza de Castro, and Chynna Ortaleza) and "My Destiny" (Tom Rodriguez, Rhian Ramos, and Ruru Madrid).



Winners of float competition announced

The Pamulak Kadayawan, the festival's floral float parade, was held over the weekend. International Pharmaceutical Incorporation and Barangay Kapitan Tomas Monteverde Sr. took top honors for their colorful entries.

IPI bested nine other participants in the traditional category, showcasing the 11 tribes of Davao and the "bounty of harvest." Barangay Kapitan Tomas Monteverde Sr., on the other hand, won over 15 other floral floats in the alternative category.

All of the participants came from Davao City and nearby provinces.

Kadayawan sa Dabaw, celebrated every third week of August, is a grand thanksgiving for the bountiful harvest of fruits, flowers, and other produce of Davao City. It is also a festival that honors the heritage of the city. — Trisha Macas/BM, GMA News
