Tourist’s proposal to GF makes Vigan’s dancing fountain extra special

For one evening, the dancing fountains of Vigan City in Ilocos Sur became an extra special attraction - after a tourist moved by its beauty proposed marriage to his girlfriend there.

Saki Mirabueno surprised his girlfriend Gia Tambis as soon as they approached the view deck of the dancing fountain, GMA Ilocos reported Thursday.



A group of musicians started to play when the couple reached the view deck, while the fountain's water started dancing after Saki gave a hand signal.

"Sobrang unexpected, it's a very perfect set-up, kanina nga iniisip ko sa fountain show siya. Ang swerte naman ng mga nagda-date ngayon kasi it's so nice, I feel so special," Tambis said.

For his part, Mirabueno said he found the place perfect for making his proposal. He said he and Tambis had been dating for two-and-a-half years.

Residents were excited over the proposal by the fountain.

Meanwhile, Governor Ryan Singson said he is considering making more enhancements to the fountain and promoting it as one of the province's attractions.

"Na-realize natin na pwede rin pala maging magandang venue, ang dancing fountain. So pwede nang i-propose ng provincial tourism office kung ano pa ang pwede nating i-promote," he said.

Vigan is in the running for one of the world's seven wonder cities.

Filipinos and tourists who have experienced the beauty of Vigan may want to vote for it in the penultimate voting stage that will run until Oct. 7.

After Oct. 7, the list will be further narrowed to 14, and the 7 Official New7Wonders Cities will be revealed on December 7. — Joel Locsin /LBG, GMA News
