Students of the Tiong Se Academy in Manila on Tuesday marked the 69th anniversary of the ratification of the United Nations (UN) Charter by donning the national costumes of dozens of countries at the Lucky Chinatown Mall in Binondo, Manila.

In their brightly colored costumes, the children stole the spotlight with the "Parade of Nations" and a series of cultural presentations that entertained mall-goers.

In 1948, the UN declared October 24—the anniversary of the signing of the charter—as United Nations Day, with the aim of promoting the achievements of the UN and its ultimate mission to preserve world peace. — BM, GMA News
