GMA Network head Felipe L. Gozon launches autobiography on 75th birthday

GMA Network Chairman and CEO Felipe L. Gozon launched his autobiography during his 75th birthday celebration on Monday.

The book contains his accounts of being the head of a TV network, a lawyer, and a family man.

"Siguro mas maganda na gumawa ako ng autobiography para yung aking mga apo eh diretso nilang malaman ang akin istorya kaysa sabi lang ng parents nila," he said during an interview in a report on GMA News TV's "News To Go."



Gozon also said that the book may be a source of lessons for readers.

"Marami akong pinagdaanan eh... Some of them, hindi ordinaryo at saka siguro may mapupulot ang magbabasa," he said.

The autobiography is available at National Book Store.

75th birthday

Gozon, who was born on December 8, 1939, celebrated his birthday in the company of family and friends (among whom he is known as Henry) and luminaries from the business, legal and political sectors.

Among his guests were Senate President Franklin Drilon; House Speaker Sonny Belmonte; Senators Miriam Defensor-Santiago, Tito Sotto, and Cynthia Villar; former Senator Edgardo Angara, and members of the Cabinet.

"People don't know, but Henry Gozon was one of the brilliant students during his time in the UP College of Law... We are very lucky to have him for 75 years and we hope for him 75 years more," Santiago said in an interview at the party.

GMA Network president and COO Gilberto R. Duavit and the network's former president and CEO Menardo Jimenez were also there, as were former Chief Justices Reynato Puno and Artemio Panganiban.

San Miguel Corp. president Ramon Ang, who was reported to have taken on a "very significant minority stake" in GMA Network, was also at the event. 

"Happy birthday, Boss Henry. I wish he will have more to come. Actually, I have so much to learn from him," the businessman said.

The celebration, which was organized by Gozon's loved ones, were hosted by 24 Oras anchor Mike Enriquez and TV actress/host Donita Rose.

Singers Regine Velasquez-Olcasid, Lani Misalucha, and Dulce also performed at the event.
