Is Miss Jamaica half-Pinay? Watch her answer

Shortly after the 63rd Miss Universe pageant ended, online rumors spread that crowd favorite Miss Jamaica Kaci Fennell had Filipino lineage.

The rumor started because of her Wikipedia entry, which stated that her mother was of Filipino descent.

Popular showbiz columnist Ricky Lo republished the entry on his column on Tuesday, adding more credence to rumors.

But unfortunately, there's no truth to it.

The 22-year-old stunner had already addressed the Wikipedia issue last September in a radio interview, saying that she wasn't Filipina.

"They stated in the bio that my mother was a beauty queen and she was Filipino. And I was like 'Oh wow tell me more about this... I want to know some more!'," she said.

"My mother is Jamaican," she added.

Although she failed to get the Miss Universe crown, Fennell won the hearts of the crowd and netizens who felt that she deserved more than a fourth runner-up finish.

But in an interview with E! Online after the coronation night, Fennell said that she was proud to be part of the pageant's top five and the contest "went exactly how it should."

"Well it was totally unexpected. I was so proud that I made the Top 5... I believe it went exactly how it should. I'm so happy I had this opportunity. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity," she said. — Trisha Macas/JST, GMA News
