Valentine suggestion for the environmentally conscious: Organically grown flowers

Here's a gift suggestion for the environmentally conscious for Valentine's Day: organically grown flowers from Bukidnon.

 

The flower farm in Manolo Fortich in Bukidnon is now busy harvesting flowers in time for the day of hearts on Saturday, GMA Northern Mindanao's Joe Legaspina reported.

 

Most of the produce will be delivered to flower shops not just in Cagayan de Oro City but also in Metro Manila, the report said.

 

"Marami ang aming na-harvest na mga bulaklak, sinadya naming ito para pang Valentine’s Day," said Earth Flora Farm caretaker Elsie Sumina.

 

Sumina said they used organic fertilizer to produce high-qualify flowers. She said this includes compost with cow and hog manure.

 

But the report also said the flowers from this farm may be priced slightly higher, with a dozen roses or gerbera costing at least P400. — Joel Locsin/VC, GMA News
