Carlos Palanca Foundation now accepting entries for 2015 awards
The Carlos Palanca Foundation is now accepting entries for this year's Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature.
Among the most notable literary awards in the country, the Palanca Awards have been given out since 1950.
According to the Foundation, only unpublished or unproduced works that have not been communicated to the public, the subject of a public performance, or published may be entered in the contest.
Participants may submit only one entry per category. Contest rules and forms are downloadable at the CPMA website.
This year, the Novel and Nobela categories are open.
Here is the complete list of categories for the 65th Palanca Awards:
• English Division – Novel, Short Story, Short Story for Children, Essay, Poetry, Poetry Written for Children, One-act Play, and Full-length Play;
• Filipino Division – Nobela, Maikling Kuwento, Maikling Kuwentong Pambata, Sanaysay, Tula, Tula para sa mga Bata, Dulang May Isang Yugto, Dulang Ganap ang Haba, at Dulang Pampelikula;
• Regional Languages Division – Short Story-Cebuano, Short Story-Hiligaynon, and Short Story-Ilokano.
Students younger than 18 may participate in the Kabataan Division's Essay and Sanaysay categories. This year’s theme is, “Paano mapag-iisa ng ating literatura ang ating bansa?” (“How can Philippine literature cultivate national unity?”)
Writers may submit their entries
• through the CPMA website,
• by mail, or
• directly to either of the Palanca Foundation offices:
- Unit 603, 6th Floor Park Trade Centre Bldg., 1716 Investment Drive, Madrigal Business Park, Ayala Alabang, Muntinlupa City
- Unit 3G, OPL Bldg., 100 C. Palanca St., Legaspi Village, Makati City.
