(Updated 10:51 p.m.) "In the wake of conflicts and controversies, how is winning a Binibining Pilipinas crown relevant?"

This was the question posed by Justice Secretary Leila De Lima to one of the contestants at the Binibining Pilipinas pageant during the coronation night on Sunday at Smart Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City.

It comes as no surprise that De Lima would ask such a serious question, given that only the day before she was focused on the more weighty matter of the PNP Board of Inquiry's report on the Mamasapano clash.

Other questions posed to the contestants include:

Q: What is your message of peace to the Filipinos?
(Reply by #34 Teresita "Winwyn" Marquez: Learn the importance of dialogue)

Q: How will you handle fame?
(Reply by #17 Brenna Gamboa: Stay true to my roots and be a proud Filipino)

Q: How will you motivate Manny Pacquiao in his upcoming match against Mayweather?

Asked by Frederick Go: Will you marry a man who is less successful than you?

Asked by Cong. Leni Robredo: What is more important, a successful career or a happy home?

Asked by Kiefer Ravena: In our modern times, do you think it's appropriate for women to court men?
