Idina Menzel confirms Manila concert
Broadway star Idina Menzel, singer of megahit "Let It Go" from Disney's 2013 film "Frozen," confirmed on Wednesday that Manila is part of her world tour.
"Philippines - I hear you and I love you and your enthusiasm. We’ve both waited so long - I will see you on June 7!" she announced on her Facebook page.
Tickets for the concert, which will be held at the Mall of Asia Arena, will be on sale starting March 28 at 10 a.m.
According to her website, the world tour will kick off on May 30 at the Olympic Hall in Seoul, South Korea and will include cities in Japan, Europe, Canada, and United States.
Before she lent her voice as "Frozen" princess Elsa, Menzel has been a Broadway darling.
Her breakout role was her Tony Award-winning performance as "Wicked"'s Elphaba, where she sang another smash hit, "Defying Gravity." Before that, she was also nominated for a Tony Award as Maureen in "Rent."
Menzel recently finished her run as Elizabeth in the original Broadway production "If/Then," a musical by Pulitzer Prize winners Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey. For this role, the singer received her third Tony Award nomination.
Menzel also appeared on "Glee" several times as the mother of Lea Michele's character, Rachel Berry. — Trisha Macas/BM, GMA News
