What better way for the male mayor of a town in Pangasinan to mark National Women's Month than by putting himself in women's shoes—literally?

Binalonan mayor Ramon Guico III led male officials in dressing up as women, GMA Dagupan's Joanne Ponsoy reported on "24 Oras North Central Luzon."

The men wore dusters, high heels and wigs and struck poses on the red carpet in an event called, "Juana, Desisyon Mo ay Mahalaga sa Kapakanan ng Bawa't Isa. Ikaw Na!", the report added.

"Ang taas ng heels na ito, nahiya ako nang una. But maganda naman overall because we're sending a message to everybody that we respect women," said Guico.

He said there is "no other way to feel what they do, their roles, than putting yourselves in their shoes. Kaya ito ang ginawa namin."

Councilor Josephine Caburnay said the move aimed to promote awareness among constituents about the roles played by women.

"Para maramdaman din nila ano ang ginagampanan ng isang babae," she added. — Joel Locsin/BM, GMA News
