WATCH: Pinoy ‘Aquaman’ swims 19.99 km in Cebu for environment

A Filipino lawyer-environmentalist conquered the waters of Cebu last weekend, swimming 19.99 km non-stop to make a statement for the environment.

Ingemar Macarine swam from Bantayan Island to San Remegio in Cebu in 45 minutes, GMA News TV's "Balita Pilipinas Ngayon" reported Tuesday.

Macarine, a lawyer and triathlete who promotes environmental protection and a healthy lifestyle, conquered the Hinatuan Passage in Surigao del Norte earlier this year.

In June last year, he crossed the Babuyan Channel to promote tourism to Palaui Island, two months after he swam from the former prison island of Alcatraz to the Aquatic Park in San Francisco, California to campaign for cleaner seas.

But Macarine is not quite done—he will swim in Sarangani Bay on May 10, and in California on May 22.

The triathlete lawyer earned the nickname "Pinoy Aquaman" for his swims for the environment. — BM, GMA News
