Acclaimed UK band alt-J to perform in Manila on May 19
Another international act will be finding its way to the Metro Manila concert scene this month.
UK band alt-J will be performing at The Theatre, Solaire Resort and Casino in Parañaque on May 19, according to a statement by Karpos Multimedia, which is bringing the band to the country in collaboration with Secret Sounds Asia.
In 2012, alt-J's debut album "An Awesome Wave" won the prestigious British Mercury Prize and was named BBC Radio 6’s Album of the Year. It went on to go platinum in the UK and sold over 1 million units worldwide.
Their second album, "This Is All Yours," debuted at #1 on the UK album charts last year and was nominated for Best Alternative Music Album at the Grammy Awards.
The band—known for its intriguing sound of electronic, folk and indie rock—was formed in 2008 with Joe Newman on guitar and vocals, Gus Unger-Hamilton on keyboards, Thom Green on drums and Gwil Sainsbury on guitar and bass. Sainsbury has since been replaced by Cameron Knight on bass. — BM, GMA News
