Special Ad Feature: Champion pays tribute to a street child turned young charity leader
Nothing can make the heart of a true champion falter. For one Filipino teenager, not even his age, social status or his turbulent past could stop him from helping others.
In its belief in the value of being “tapat” or faithful to its consumers, Champion pays tribute to exemplary individuals and groups of people who can serve as an inspiration to Filipinos. The Champion Tapat Dapat Update showcases how their faith and commitment to their advocacies have brought about a positive impact on their lives and those of the people around them.
In the eighth episode of the Tapat Dapat Update, Champion features the story of Cris “Kesz” Valdez, the sixteen-year old leader of the charity organization Championing Children Community (C3). The organization aims to help street children, not only by aiding them with their physical needs, but also by educating them about hygiene, health, and children’s rights. Though C3, Kesz has helped more than thirteen thousand street children to date.
What makes Kesz story truly inspiring—more than his dedication to his advocacy at his young age—is how he was able to become the leader he is today despite his turbulent childhood. Even before he was a teenager, Kesz had already suffered in the hands of an abusive father and spent his early childhood living on the streets. Kesz found his calling in helping homeless children after he was taken in by his adoptive parent.
From being a street child to an inspiring young charity leader, Kesz has proven that everyone has the ability to help others.
